August Newsletter – Coram Deo

Originally sent to distribution list on 8.18.24. Posting here for convenience.

Hello, friends!

It’s August, and we’ve launched! On Sunday August 3, 2025 Coram Deo Baptist was born. That morning 42 charter members signed the church covenant together.

As of that Sunday, we hold a Sunday morning service each week at 10am at Willow Spring High School (1704 Old Honeycutt Rd. Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526). Children’s ministry is offered through 2nd grade during the service. We’d love to have you join us!

We thank the Lord for each of you (newsletter recipients) who have stood by us in prayer, given of your resources, and are cheering for us right now. Your encouragement has been wind in our sails.

Here’s a picture taken at the end of the service.

Here are a few church highlights to keep you in the loop.

Philemon | Our first preaching series began with the shortest of Paul’s letters, the book of Philemon. It will be a memorable study setting an expositional tone and trajectory from the start. Study along with us, put it to memory. We start the Gospel of John next month.

Pillar | We were glad to have Nate Akin, Director of the Pillar Network, with us on Covenant Sunday. He along with our sending church pastors—Matt Capps (Fairview) and Josh Wredberg (Redeemer), were able to pray and give words of encouragement. We’re excited to join the Pillar Network along with these pastors.

London | We’re commissioning our first mission team at the end of this month! A team of six will be sent to London, England to work a VBS children’s ministry in cooperation with resident missionaries. Pray for this team, and for fruit! We’re excited to set a missional culture early in our church.

Next New Members | The Lord has brought a considerable number of folks to us outside the group of charter members. From across the demographics, Coram Deo may double this fall with its incoming new members. We plan to hold “Coram Deo 101” classes in September, and open membership applications October 1. Pray for us as we grow (our children’s ministry!) and for those who will call Coram Deo their new home.

Prayer requests:

  1. Music leader. Though we have a great music team, we still need a designated leader. Pray specifically for a male, who can play an instrument (guitar or piano), has platform experience, can lead a team, and has the potential to be elder qualified. This man would commit to leading regularly on Sundays.
  2. Land. We are looking for property south of the high school. A suitable amount would be 5-10 acres, ideally in greater Angier. Pray the Lord would provide what we need when we need it, and the funds to purchase.
  3. Student ministry. It’s been said “the best place to serve the Lord is where he sits you down.” Well, he has set down Coram Deo at the largest high school in Wake County. Students return August 25, at an expected record number. We have a ministry  to steward. Pray for wisdom and opportunity.

Thank you for keeping up with us this last year. Our story is your story. Your prayers and support has made Coram Deo Baptist a reality.

Feel free to contact us directly with any questions you may have. If you’re in the area, stop in and say hello.

Have a great month!
