November Newsletter – Coram Deo

Originally sent to distribution list on 11.04.24. Posting here for convenience.

Greetings, friends!

Thank you for your interest in our church planting journey. For those of you who have recently signed up for this newsletter, we welcome you to our community!

I’m writing to you from Greensboro, NC where our family is attending the annual meeting of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. It’s quite encouraging to be around so much emphasis on kingdom advancement. Disciple-making and church-planting is in the air. I’m glad to be numbered among NC Baptists and working with our SendNC network.

A few notes for this month:

November Fellowship Meeting

We’ll have our second gathering on Sunday, November 17 at Fairview Baptist in Apex from 6:00-8:00pm. We’ll fellowship over a chili dinner while I cast vision and share some updates in a more formal setting. Childcare will be provided.

Please bring your favorite chili (crockpot) to share with others. Sides and drinks are covered. We’ll award the winner with some church planting resources!!

Note: If you plan on attending this fellowship, please reply to this email giving your name, number of adults attending, if you need childcare (and number needing care), and if you will be bringing chili.

Coram Deo Baptist is on Facebook!

SendNC provides website development resources and services for church planters. We are currently working with those teams to design both the Coram Deo logo and our website. We’re hoping to have a final draft by year end.

However, we have launched the church Facebook page. Please search and follow Coram Deo Baptist Church to stay abreast for news and updates.

2025 Budget Draft

Though we will not launch until later in 2025, I’ve been working to draft our annual budget. Special thanks to some key leaders at Fairview and SendNC to help this process. I hope to present a sketch of the budget at our November 17 meeting.

As always, if you are interested in making a personal contribution towards our 2025 budget, you can do so through our family’s NAMB profile giving link

And… we have a new supporting church! Lakewood Ranch Baptist in Sarasota, Florida pastored by Rick Hardison. We thank the Lord for their financial partnership.

Prayer Requests

  • Please pray the Lord will honor our efforts in serving the Angier community. Thank you to all who served at the trunk-or-treat.
  • Pray also that he will provide us a facility in due time. I’ve had several encouraging conversations in the last month.
  • Further, please pray that our Lord will continue to unite our fellowship in gospel community and mission, and bring others to join us as well.

At the close of each newsletter, I promote a resource to help us prepare to plant. This month is

Megan Hill’s book A Place to Belong: Learning to Love the Local Church. Find your copy here

At the same time, today is election day. Be encouraged by this great article from Matt Capps, pastor of our sending church, Fairview Baptist.

Blessings to each of you. Coram Deo.

P.S. Save the date for a special Coram Deo Christmas Eve gathering!
